Every child gets lost sometimes.
Sunny Shell shows them how to find their way back.
A story that started with one small moment.
Sunny Shell began with a simple belief: the stories we read to our children shape who they become. Not just the words on the page, but the feelings underneath them. Courage. Kindness. Honesty. The confidence to ask for help when the path forward isn't clear.
The first book, The Little Turtle Who Got Lost, follows Sunny on the day she loses her way home. It's a small moment with a big lesson: that reaching out for help isn't weakness, it's wisdom. That story became the foundation for a series where every book tackles one real thing children face growing up, from making friends and standing up to bullying, to listening, honesty, and celebrating what makes each of us different.
“ Children don't remember every book they're read. But they remember how a story made them feel.
Not just imagination. Intention.
Sunny Shell is written by Myrtle Gray, an author, Etiquette and Lifestyle coach, and early childhood development practitioner who builds every story around a specific emotional or social skill. The books are brought to life by lead illustrator Thaakir Adams of JustDevereaux Creations, whose warm, vivid artwork turns each page into a world children want to climb into. The series has been endorsed by Educational Psychologist Tarryn L Kelmovitz for its meaningful impact on children's emotional and social development.
An award-winning series.
Sunny Shell was honoured with the African Writers Tribe Award for the children's book series, presented in Lagos, Nigeria. It's a recognition of the care that goes into every story, from the lessons at their heart to the artwork that brings them to life.
Story time that lasts longer than the last page.
Children carry the feelings a story gives them into how they treat their friends, how they handle their fears, and how they see themselves. That's what Sunny Shell is built to do: turn story time into something that lasts far longer than the last page.
We also visit schools, run events, and love meeting the families who've made Sunny part of their bedtime routine. If you'd like Sunny to visit your school or community, get in touch. We'd love to hear from you.
